The flagship gaming chip NVIDIA Ampere appeared in the photo. GeForce RTX 3090 will get a really big GPU
Resource VideoCardz, citing Chinese sources, published a photo of the NVIDIA GA102-300 GPU. It is assumed that it will form the basis of the GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card, the photos of which we saw recently.
Unfortunately, the source of the image hid some of the GPU markings, but some details can still be noted in the image. For example, the inscription “QUAL SAMPLE” is natural for a test sample that was sent to the company’s partners. At the same time, the presence of the A1 prefix in the marking indicates the revision of the chip, which indicates its full readiness for commercial production. But together, these inscriptions look somewhat strange.
Since the picture, unfortunately, does not show the whole chip, it is not yet possible to draw conclusions about its exact dimensions. But it looks by no means small, although it is made according to the 7-nm process technology. According to earlier rumors, the GPU area may be around 627mm 2.
It is also expected that a GPU based on the new Ampere microarchitecture will use at least 5248 CUDA cores. It is assumed that a graphics card based on this chip can get 12 or 24 GB of video memory of the GDDR6X standard. Rumors also indicate that this chip is the flagship solution of the 30th series of GeForce RTX video cards.
NVIDIA is set to announce the next generation of GeForce RTX 30 Series Ampere graphics cards as part of the GeForce Live Special Event on September 1st. Reviews of video cards and the release of new products are expected in the same month. Unfortunately, there is no more accurate information on this yet.
