The future GeForce RTX 3060 Super graphics card was credited with a graphics processor with 4864 CUDA cores

According to the resource VideoCardz, the announcement of the younger model of the GeForce RTX 3060 video card based on the new NVIDIA Ampere architecture may happen in October or November. Early rumors suggested that it would be based on the GA106 and GA104 processors. The latter, most likely, will form the basis of the Ti or Super variants, which will be able to offer a slightly higher level of performance compared to the original model on the GA106 chip.

Referring to a network informant under the nickname Kopite7kimi, who, weeks before the official announcement, accurately ” predicted ” some of the characteristics of the presented GeForce RTX 30 series video cards, the VideoCardz resource shared new information regarding the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti / Supermodel.

According to the latest data, this model will be based on the GA104-200 processor. It uses 4864 CUDA cores, which is 1024 less than the GPU of the GeForce RTX 3070 model. The younger model will be based on a board labeled PG142 SKU20 and will receive 8 GB of GDDR6 video memory at its disposal.

According to the resource, the GA104-200 processor has previously been on one of NVIDIA’s road maps, where it was positioned as the basis for the GeForce RTX 3060 Super video card. So far, the only known difference between potential Super and Ti models is the different PCB markings. In the first case, it contains the SKU10 code, in the second – SKU20. Whether NVIDIA plans to release Ti and Super variants as hotel products are unknown. According to one of the assumptions, we can talk about the same model. It is indicated that NVIDIA has not yet finally decided on the name of the more productive version of the GeForce RTX 3060.

In any case, the Super / Ti variants of the RTX 3060 shouldn’t be expected until next year. They will appear as part of the updated Ampere Refresh series in 2021. And, it is quite possible, they will receive a more productive video memory of the GDDR6X standard, which is currently announced only for the older models GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3090.
