Dropped support for Office 2010 and Office 2016 for Mac
Microsoft has announced the end of support for two versions of the office suite – Office 2010 and Office 2016 for Mac.
The lifetime of the next versions of Microsoft Office has expired
Apps from these packages will no longer receive feature fixes or security updates. Also, Microsoft will no longer provide technical support for these products.
According to Jared Spataro, corporate vice president of Microsoft 365, the company does not plan to take any proactive steps to block outdated versions of Office clients, but they will not be able to receive new features and may also cause performance and compatibility issues.
Customers who choose to upgrade from Office 2010 to newer Microsoft solutions are offered two options – a subscription to Microsoft 365 apps or Office 2019 without a subscription.
