As it turned out, the total in the Xbox Game Pass and Epic Games Store (after the distribution of The Long Dark as part of the Christmas promotion), the figure was 3.5 million  “active” players. It turns out that the number of gamers involved in the project is currently more than 8.5 million.

The team is currently working on the fourth episode of The Long Dark, which includes new locations and gameplay mechanics. The development stage has reached the stage when the episode can already be fully completed – there are a couple of small areas left to finish. After that, Hinterland will move on to refinement, testing, and optimization. Besides, the script for the fifth episode has already been written.

Besides, the studio posted a poll in which it wants to know how the players want to see the fifth episode. This will help shape Hinterland’s plans.

The Long Dark is a survival simulator with a story campaign divided into episodes. The protagonist in a global catastrophe survived a plane crash in Canada and is trying to realize the disaster scale. The game is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
