The new Motorola razr smartphone with a flexible screen may get an unusual design
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted Motorola a patent for a new smartphone that incorporates articulation and a flexible display.
The patent documentation describes a device in a folding case like Motorola razr. At the same time, the device has a rather unusual design: for example, in the central part in the connection area there are noticeable side protrusions. Because of this, when folded, the upper part of the smartphone is much wider than the bottom.
The flexible main screen, as noted, can be made using technology of organic light emitting diodes (OLED). The illustrations show that this panel has wide frames on all sides. In the back of the case is a single main camera with a large optical module. Under it may be a fingerprint scanner.
The patent application was filed in January this year, and it was issued a few days ago. The document inter alia describes the design of the swivel.
So far, however, it is not clear whether Motorola is going to create a commercial version of the device with the described design. It is possible that some of the proposed solutions will be used in devices of the razr family.
