Apple acknowledged today, June 30, 2023, that the original 12-inch MacBook is definitively and irreversibly obsolete. The 2015 model has added itself to the list of obsolete products . This means that the laptop can no longer be repaired or serviced at Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers.
According to Apple’s description, a product is considered end-of-life if the company stopped distributing it for sale more than 7 years ago.
The original 12-inch MacBook is officially obsolete
Introduced in March 2015, the 12-inch MacBook was thin and light, weighing less than 1kg (920 grams). The starting price for it was 1299 dollars. Standard specifications on the base model included a 1.1GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor, integrated Intel HD 5300 graphics, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD.
