The first tests show what the new AMD is capable of
The Radeon RX 7000 mobile graphics cards haven’t really hit the market yet, so we don’t have a lot of reviews. But ComputerBase has already published one. It allows you to evaluate the capabilities of the Radeon RX 7600S adapter.
The GPU was tested in the Asus TUF Gaming A16 laptop, which is also based on the Ryzen 7 7735HS APU. The RX 7600S is the only discrete adapter option for this PC.
The Radeon RX 7600S is slightly inferior to the GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop
It turned out that the performance of the AMD adapter is close to the mobile GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop. But here it is worth mentioning an important aspect: the Radeon RX 7600S offers a TDP of 50-75 W plus a slight overclocking from the manufacturer. As a result, the test was about the 80-watt version, that is, the maximum for this adapter. And this version is about 6% slower than the 80-watt RTX 4060. However, the RTX 4060 can draw much more: up to 140 watts. In this case, this adapter is faster by about 25%.
It can also be noted that the RX 7600S shows the same performance as the 80-watt version of the RX 6800S, and the latter has more compute units. If we compare the RX 7600S with the RTX 4050 Laptop, the former is one and a half times faster.
As always, it is much more difficult to draw conclusions in the case of laptops than in the case of individual components of a desktop PC. But at least for the moment, a negotiated laptop in Europe costs about 1875 euros, with a recommended price of 1600 euros. The most affordable laptop with RTX 4060 costs 1970 euros.
