The agreement reached between STLC and Yamal will help avoid a transport collapse in the region
As part of a meeting held at the Federal Air Transport Agency at the end of the week, Yamal Airlines agreed with the State Transport Leasing Company (STLC) to extend the operation of three Airbus A321 aircraft by two months.
“ Today, together with STLC, agreements have been reached on a short-term extension of the operation of part of the aircraft fleet in order to successfully complete the tourist season. For passengers of regular flights of the airline, the current flight program remains relevant ,” Yamal reported.
“ In order to avoid a transport collapse, we are ready to meet halfway and agree on the continuation of the operation of aircraft for another 2 months so that Yamal can fulfill its obligations to transport Russian tourists ,” the STLC said.
The state leasing company did not deprive the Yamal airline of three Airbus A321 aircraft
The STLC also added that ” they are waiting for the decision of the carrier and the signing of the necessary documents before September 1, 2023 in order to legally formalize the conditions for the operation and subsequent return of the aircraft .”
Earlier there was information that Yamal is considering the possibility of early return of three Airbus A321 to STLC ” due to their inconsistency with the current business model of the airline .” However, due to such a solution, the tour operators TEZ tour and Fun & Sun, whose representatives were also invited to the meeting at the Federal Air Transport Agency, could have problems.
Yamal is the main carrier in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. In addition to three Airbus A321s, the company’s fleet includes 15 SuperJet 100s, eight A320s and three Bombardier CRJ-200LRs.
