Northrop Grumman tested a guidance system for this
Northrop Grumman has completed ground testing of technologies for transmitting energy from satellites to the surface of the planet. We are talking about a guidance system for the beam, through which energy will be transmitted. The test was conducted in one of Northrop Grumman’s test chambers in Baltimore.

In the future, it is planned to launch a prototype, which will be ready by 2025. So far, nothing has been announced about the timing of the full launch of such a system.
In 2018, the Air Force Research Laboratory was awarded a $100 million contract by Northrop Grumman. As part of the contact, it is planned to create a full-fledged prototype of the space power system. This will provide energy to remote military bases.
There are similar projects in China too, they want to demonstrate a prototype there in 2028. The EU has its own project called Solaris, but there are no deadlines yet.
