The world won’t see dual-screen devices on Windows 10X until 2022

Back in October last year, Microsoft announced a brand new Windows 10X operating system. The OS, aimed at devices with two screens, was supposed to debut on the Surface Neo laptop, which is expected closer to the end of this year. However, Microsoft’s plans have changed.

In May, Panos Panay, the head of Microsoft’s operating system development division, said that Windows 10X would come first for familiar single-display computers. Today, the Internet edition ZDNet reported that the first single-screen PCs with the new operating system will hit the market no earlier than spring 2021, and two-screen devices should not be expected until 2022. Curiously, Microsoft’s official timeline still says the Surface Neo will launch this year. The fact is that the company did not update the schedule after the first transfer of the launch of the device.

In addition, Zac Bowden of Windows Central said that Windows 10X will still not receive support for Win32 applications. Instead, the system will use streaming applications over the Internet, which can hardly be considered a good alternative.

In any case, the release of the first devices based on Windows 10X in the spring of 2021 will put everything in its place when users themselves can appreciate the convenience and functionality of the new OS.
