Xbox Series S will be much more compact than Xbox Series X

New details about the promising low-cost Xbox Series X game console appeared on the Web. With its low price around $ 200-250, it is reported to be quite compact, like the Xbox One X, and at the same time quite powerful, since the GPU will 20 computing units and 1280 stream processors. Tom Warren, editor-in-chief of the famous The Verge, shared the details of the Xbox Series X hardware platform on Twitter.

If we consider the current line of AMD video cards, then the Xbox Series S GPUs are close to the Radeon RX 5500XT with 22 computing units and 1408 stream processors. Its performance is 5.2 TFLOPS. So the new leak does not go against the early rumors attributing the Xbox Series S GPU performance at level 4 TFLOPS. True, there are options. For example, if 20 computing units at a frequency of 1.6 GHz give the same 4 TFLOPS, then 20 out of 24 CUs with four disabled CUs and a frequency of 1.825 GHz will give 4.67 TFLOPS. In any case, the performance of the Xbox Series S will be at the level of the PlayStation 4 Pro. For games with a resolution of 1080p and 1440p, this should be enough, and for users who prefer 4K resolution, the more expensive Xbox Series X is addressed.

The Xbox Series S should be unveiled in the coming months. It is expected that the next Microsoft event dedicated to the next-generation gaming console will take place in the twenties of July, but not the fact that the Xbox Series S will debut this month – the announcement of the console in August is more likely.
