Jim Ryan’s statement reads: “We’ve talked about this before. We’re not going to add [our own] new releases to the subscription model. These games cost millions of dollars, over $ 100 million in development. This strategy does not seem viable to us. “

The CEO then explained that future projects from Sony Interactive Entertainment’s in-house studios don’t make sense as part of a Game Pass-like subscription: “We want to make games bigger and better and also hope to make them last at some point. So it makes no sense to us to introduce them into the subscription model from day one. For others [companies] in a similar position, it might work, but for us, it might not. We want to expand and grow our own ecosystem and it is not part of [Sony’s] current strategy to include new games in the subscription model. ”

As a reminder: the PlayStation Plus Collection includes 18 games, including Sony exclusives – Days Gone, God of War, Bloodborne, and others.
