We return to talk about the next generation of AirPods ; Apple headphones are often at the center of the rumors these days and now the word goes back to the famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo , who promises us less close launch times than has emerged so far .
Kuo’s new forecast was published in a note to investors that AppleInsider colleagues had access to , who reported the latest news on the matter. According to what is learned, the third generation of AirPods could arrive in 2021 , with mass production ready to start already in the first months of next year.
The main difference compared to the current model should concern the complete review of the internal components, while there should be no news regarding the external appearance. Who knows that in this way there is no space to insert an even larger battery.
Kuo also returns to the AirPods Pro and confirms that the second generation of these headphones should arrive only in 2022 ; also in this case there will be no noteworthy aesthetic differences and all the news will be found inside. Many of the solutions developed for the third generation AirPods will also be used on the Pro 2.
The analyst seems to be sure that there will be no new headphones from the AirPods family during 2020, but only new high-end headphones from the Beats brand. Finally, Kuo predicts that in the coming months the AirPods Pro will begin to erode market share towards the cheaper model ( there is talk of a 40% reduction in shipments for AirPods and a 70% increase for Pro ), done which should lead Apple to end the year with about 90 million headphones shipped: 50-55 million for the base model and 35-40 million for the more expensive ones.
