Communications satellites launched in October 2022
Roskosmos announced the successful commissioning of three Gonets-M low-orbit communications satellites.
The satellites were launched from the Vostochny cosmodrome in October 2022 using a Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket. At that time, Gonets-M satellites first went into orbit from this cosmodrome.
Now the operator of the Gonets satellite system has completed testing of the onboard systems and the payload of the devices. As noted in Roskosmos, this made it possible to start using new satellites for their intended purpose – to provide communication channels to subscribers.
At the moment, the Gonets-D1M low-orbit constellation includes 18 spacecraft. According to the description of Roskosmos, Gonets-M low-orbit spacecraft are designed to transmit data and provide mobile satellite communications services to mobile and stationary subscribers anywhere in the world.
