Clone BeReal did not justify itself
The team behind the popular short video sharing service TikTok has started to notify users of the end of support for TikTok Now, introduced just nine months ago.
TikTok Now is positioned as a new social network from TikTok that allows you to share “everyday life with family and friends in real time.” It was launched in September 2022.
TikTok Now shuts down just 9 months after launch
The format of TikTok Now is almost identical to that of the BeReal service, which suddenly became very popular last year, but is already losing its “sensational virality”. Users are encouraged to “capture the moment” once a day using their phone’s front and rear cameras. The highlight of TikTok Now was that it supports videos up to 10 seconds long in addition to photos. The service is described as follows:
Every day you and your friends get a notification at the same time. Within 3 minutes after that, you must take a new photo or 10-second video (you cannot upload ready-made ones). In this case, both the front and main cameras will be involved.
