But only users of the paid Twitter Blue subscription can earn
The Twitter team has notified popular microbloggers that they will start receiving payments in the very near future. It comes just months after Elon Musk announced that some Twitter users would be able to earn money through ads on the platform.
According to the alert, the money will arrive “within the next 72 hours.” But there’s a catch: the revenue sharing program is only available to users who pay for a Twitter Blue subscription. Payments are made by ads placed in response to tweets.
Twitter starts paying authors of microblogs – up to 40 thousand dollars for 3 months
At the moment, payout amounts range from a few thousand dollars to nearly $40,000 for accounts with several million followers. Twitter also promised that later this month the program will be available to more authors.
It’s not yet clear how payouts are determined or how much of the revenue Twitter receives, but accounts must have at least 5 million tweet views in the last three months. Payouts have been cumulative since February, when the program was first announced.
Note that the other day, Elon Musk, who now owns Twitter, received a serious competitor in the person of Mark Zuckerberg, who launched a very similar Threads service amid a scandal with new restrictions on Twitter. The rise of Threads turned out to be very rapid – in a few days the service gained 100 million users.
