Upcoming update: Tesla will stop production of Model S and Model X electric vehicles for 18 days

In his address to the auto assembly workers, the head of Tesla Elon Musk announced the excess of demand over supply, urging them to maximize production volumes in the remaining time until the end of the quarter. On the other hand, the company will cease production of its Model S and Model X electric vehicles for 18 days.

In the practice of automakers, I must say, “vacations” are commonplace, since from time to time the conveyor is required for maintenance and readjustment, so the suspension of the assembly process of older models of electric vehicles should not be an extraordinary event. Reasons why production will be temporarily stopped, are not specified, but some of the downtimes fall on the holiday period, in which the employer would provide employees with paid days off anyway. Tesla employees will be able to devote time to themselves and their loved ones on December 24, 25, and 31, as well as January 1, since these days are considered holidays. From December 28 to December 30, they are granted unpaid days of administrative leave, and in January the same period falls on January 4-8, inclusive. Employees of the enterprise that assemble Tesla Model S and Model X will have to return to work on January 11.

The head of the company explains that for the period of additional weekends, those who wish can additionally earn money on other sections of the conveyor, for this, applications can be submitted now. Free assistance to the employer in the field of delivery, which does not require remuneration for labor, is also welcomed. Since the production of electric vehicles Tesla Model Y and Model 3 at this time not only will not stop but will continue to increase, there is reason to believe that Tesla Model S and Model X are preparing for modernization, which will require stopping the conveyor on which they are assembled.
