Versus Evil folded its hands: the Switch version of Pillars of Eternity will stop receiving updates

Versus Evil has published a statement on future updates to the Switch version of the old-school role-playing game Pillars of Eternity from Obsidian Entertainment on its official microblog.

As it became known, the Pillars of Eternity edition for the Nintendo hybrid console will no longer receive patches with bug fixes that are still present in the project on this platform.

“Unfortunately, we have reached the limit of what we can do with updates and have exhausted all the possibilities left to us from the original PC regarding the limitations of the hardware we work with,” said Versus Evil.

The publisher understands that they leave the Switch-version of Pillars of Eternity buyers alone with uncorrected bugs. Still, they cannot do anything and only “apologize for any inconvenience caused

It’s worth noting that the problems with Pillars of Eternity on Nintendo Switch are not only related to the limited power of the console (disabled spells, missing pets, etc.). What prevents Versus Evil from fixing these bugs is not specified.

Users of the ResetEra forum also caught Versus Evil in a lie. Contrary to the publisher’s statements, the January patch for the Switch version of Pillars of Eternity does not contain the promised fixes.

Pillars of Eternity was released on PC in March 2015, reached PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in August 2017, and debuted on Nintendo Switch in August 2019. The game is available in full edition on consoles.
