Video: Atropos Wreck, Time Loop, and Rapid Battles in the Returnal Trailer

Housemarque and Sony Interactive Entertainment have released a story trailer for Returnal. The video shows the wreck on Atropos, fast-paced battles, the main character’s house, and much more.

The video begins with the protagonist named Selena trying to contact his headquarters. She tells how she crashed on a planet called Atropos. The woman then moves deeper into unknown territory and finds a body in a spacesuit. After a moment, Selena realized that it was her corpse. Recall: according to the plot, the main character fell into a time loop on Atropos and now must figure out how to get out of it.

A fresh trailer shows other pieces of the plot as well. For example, the moment where Selena finds her own home on a hostile planet. She enters the building and examines it, although she realizes that it is not real.

The narrative sequences in the video alternate with gameplay footage, which is mostly devoted to battles. In battles, the main character uses her weapon and her jetpack to dash and jump high. But opponents can surprise with a wide variety of attacks. Besides, most enemies look very unusual. For example, one monster has a T-shaped head and many tentacles.

Returns will release on April 30, 2021, exclusively on PlayStation 5.
