Video: King’s Bounty II Developers Answer Key Fan Questions About the Game

1C Entertainment continues to talk about King’s Bounty II. The company presented the fifth issue of the project development diaries. From the video, viewers will be able to find out the answers to key questions: differences between units, the use of monsters in battles, links with previous games in the King’s Bounty series, and so on.

It is reported that King’s Bounty II remains in the mainstream of high fantasy, but becomes more realistic in terms of style. The developers contemplated the idea of a more fabulous setting, but it did not fully correspond to the story that is planned to be told. This choice was also made out of a desire to expand the range of issues, raise some topical issues, but at the same time remain within the 12+ rating.

In the world of King’s Bounty II, there are several intelligent races created by the gods: humans, undead, dragons, gnomes, trolls, and some others, which the developers are in no hurry to talk about. Races are divided into factions (at least 2-3) with their own set of units and fighting style. For example, the king’s men prefer defense, while robbers prefer to attack. In addition to intelligent races, there will be many creatures like griffins, magic constructs, chimeras. In total, there will be more than 70 types of combat units that can be present in the squad or become opponents.

There will be artifacts in the game, but only for the hero, and not for individual units. Equipped items will be displayed on the character all the time and will be able to make the army more protected or strengthen attacks in hand-to-hand combat.

All soldiers (even within the same squad) will differ slightly from each other both in individual traits (beard, mustache) and clothing. By accumulating experience, squads earn new ranks, which is immediately clearly reflected in their appearance. The characteristics also change – the fighters become stronger and more powerful, get new abilities.

During the passage, it will be possible to move some units to the reserve, adjusting your army to one or another enemy. For example, an enemy with magical creatures in their composition requires one approach, a very armored one – another, having many shooters – a third. At the same time, the reserve is endless – you can collect at least all the units existing in the game, but you can put no more than five on the battlefield. The “leadership” parameter of the hero allows you to keep more soldiers in each unit (on one hex of the field). If certain conditions are met during missions, the player can receive a sixth squad of an ally, which will help in battle.

There will be quite a few references and easter eggs in the game – both to movies, and to books, and to popular games in the fantasy genre. Of course, there are similarities with the previous parts of the King’s Bounty series, especially the very first one.

There will be no multiplayer at launch: the team is focused on creating a big story game. In the future, if there is interest from the community, it is possible that a mode for fights between the armies of two players will appear, but so far there are no such plans.

King’s Bounty II promises a fresh take on one of the oldest fantasy RPG series ever. In addition to turn-based tactical battles, exciting adventures with a non-linear storyline will be offered. Every decision of the player matters both in battles and in communication with local residents.

The release of King’s Bounty II is expected simultaneously on four target platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. At the same time, on a portable-stationary console Nintendo, the game will not differ either in content or in terms of gameplay. So far, nothing has been reported about the new generation consoles.
