Walmart, the largest US retailer, has removed firearms and ammunition from some of its stores, CNN reports. The decision was made amid riots in the United States that began after the death of African American George Floyd in Minneapolis.

“As a responsible seller of hunting and sporting firearms, we temporarily removed firearms and ammunition from the trading floor of some stores as a precaution,” the Walmart television channel reported.

George Floyd died after hard detention by police in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The man was unarmed. During the arrest, the policeman threw him on the asphalt, after which he pressed his knee on his neck and held him. George Floyd died in the hospital. The assassination of George Floyd is accused of police officer Derek Chaven. Charges of incitement to murder and aiding were brought against three other police officers involved in the detention.

After the death of an African American in the United States, mass protests began, which are also accompanied by riots. US President Donald Trump said he did not consider it necessary to use troops to suppress the riots, but he had previously spoken about his readiness to use the armed forces.
