After all, competitors do not sleep
Google is joining the race of neural networks and chatbots. CNBC reports that the company is testing an artificial intelligence chatbot called Apprentice Bard. It is similar to ChatGPT and offers answers to questions without the need for searching.
This chatbot is based on the technology of the LaMDA system, which has already been called “intelligent”. Testing began after the company realized that ChatGPT has become extremely popular in recent months. This forced Google to quickly start developing its counterpart.
According to Jeff Dean, head of the company’s artificial intelligence department, the corporation will have to solve additional tasks so that its chatbot does not give false information. After all, this can lead to reputational losses.
Not too much is known about the Apprentice Bard bot itself. It is similar to ChatGPT and offers chat in a dialog box. However, the Google system will be able to include current events in its responses, while the analogue from OpenAI does not yet have such a function.
The source notes that Apprentice Bard replaced Meena, a previous version of the smart chatbot that was launched internally but closed shortly after.
In addition, Google is also testing an alternative search page that can use a question and answer format, that is, we are talking about embedding Apprentice Bard directly into the search. Yandex , Baidu , Bing have already promised to do this , and the You.com search engine has already implemented such an opportunity.
