What Nord is hiding: iFixit dissected a new OnePlus smartphone

Craftsmen iFixit disassembled “into cogs” mid-range smartphone OnePlus Nord, the official presentation of which took place about two weeks ago. It turned out that the device has fairly good maintainability.

Let’s briefly recall the key characteristics of the Nord model. The core is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor with a 5G modem, working in tandem with 8 or 12 GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Flash storage capacity can be 128 or 256 GB.

The 6.44-inch Fluid AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate has a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels. In front, there is a dual selfie camera based on sensors with 32 and 8 million pixels. The quad rear camera has a configuration of 48 + 8 + 5 + 2 million pixels.

An autopsy revealed that the smartphone used memory modules manufactured by Samsung. Qualcomm chips are responsible for power management; used battery BLP785 with a capacity of 4115 mAh.

The maintainability of the device is estimated at six points out of ten possible. The design uses standard hardware and the modularity of many components makes them easy to repair. Replacing the battery does not involve any particular difficulties, which, however, cannot be said about the display – the element that is most often damaged.
