The younger one is more profitable
The authors of the Hardware Unboxed channel decided to compare the GeForce RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti 8GB video cards to determine which one is more cost-effective. As usual, they did this using a huge number of games, which makes the review more representative.
Tests were conducted at 1080p and 1440p resolutions and include ray-traced games. Nvidia itself, recall, positions both cards as solutions for Full HD, but in fact, of course, in many games, even the RTX 4060 is quite suitable for 1440p.
So, for Full HD as the main resolution, on average based on more than 50 games (if you count the versions with tracing separately), the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB outperforms the younger sister by 22%. In one game there is no difference between the cards at all, in another four it does not even reach 10%. The maximum figure is 43%, but most games show a difference in the 20-30% range.
Which is worse: GeForce RTX 4060 or RTX 4060 Ti 8GB?
At the same time, based on the recommended prices, the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB is 33% more expensive than the RTX 4060, and in reality the difference may be even higher. That is, the overpayment for the older model is disproportionate to the increase in productivity. And it is the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB that is the worst in this pair in terms of price-performance ratio, which means that it is in the entire RTX 40 line, based on tests of older adapters.
At 1440p the situation doesn’t change much, but the average rises to 24%. So the conclusions there are about the same.
As a reminder, today Nvidia re-announced the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB , which has a suggested price of $500. Of course, we should wait for the tests, but apparently, this version in terms of price will be even worse than the 8 GB model.
