The camera in a smartphone has gained enormously in importance in recent years. Holiday photos, children’s photos, whatever. Users primarily use their smartphones to lug around a single-lens reflex camera. A smartphone is also practical and, in principle, everyone has it with them.

Which smartphone has the best camera?

The past few years have clearly shown that smartphone manufacturers are increasingly focusing on the camera system in their devices. The simple question “Which smartphone has the best camera?” is not that easy to answer. Each user will probably give a different answer to the question. For some users, the iPhone 13 Pro is at the top of the list, while others prefer an Android smartphone. Regardless of whether you choose an iPhone ( overview page at o2 ), the Google Pixel 6 ( overview page at o2 ), a Samsung smartphone ( overview page at o2 ), or a model from Xiaomi ( overview page at o2 ), o2 has the right one for you “Foto-Handy” and the corresponding tariff. After all, you want to share the photos you take with friends and family while you’re out and about.

Which smartphone has the best camera?

Although we regularly look beyond Apple and at the flagship smartphones of the Android manufacturers, we have the best overview of the Apple product family. We’ve followed the various iPhone models since the original iPhone in 2007 and can safely say that Apple has been able to improve the camera system year after year. To be honest, however, it must also be said that the iPhone camera has not taken a big step forward every year. Sometimes it was smaller steps. With the iPhone 13 Pro, however, there was another major step forward last fall. The video camera in particular could benefit from the improvements.

Without going into all the improvements of the iPhone 13 Pro camera in epic breadth, we would like to briefly discuss two innovations: macro photos and cinema mode. The new ultra-wide-angle camera takes macro photos. You can capture razor-sharp, stunning images where objects appear huge thanks to a minimum focus distance of just 2cm. The macro function is also available for video recording, including slow motion and time-lapse.

Based on extensive studies in cinematography and focus shift, the Cinematic mode on iPhone captures video of people, animals, and objects with beautiful depth of field and automatic focus changes. In this way, even inexperienced filmmakers can create cinematic recordings. For more creative control, the focus can be changed during and after recording.

We don’t want to give the wrong impression at this point. In our opinion, the iPhone 13 Pro camera is damn convincing, the flagship models from Samsung and Xiaomi as well as the Google Pixel 6 don’t have to hide behind Apple at all in one or the other discipline.

In our opinion, there is no general answer to the question of what is the best smartphone camera. Which smartphone suits you? In any case, you can find the right tariff for your camera phone here. In addition, o2 has also summarized the highlights of the camera system for the individual smartphones on the overview page.
