In 43% of cases, gamers noted that they enjoy achieving their goals in the game, and in 42% – that in this way, they strengthen relationships with friends.

The older generation also shares the point of view about the real benefits of computer games. According to gamers, in 33% of cases, parents believe that it is easier to learn a foreign language while playing, in 32% – that gaming develops creativity, in 29% – communication skills and sociability, in 22% can be applied in other areas.

Kaspersky Lab would not be itself if, simultaneously with the publication of statistics, it would not have warned gamers about cybersecurity. Vladislav Tushkanov, Senior Data Scientist at Kaspersky Lab, said:

Users need to comply with safety rules and protect privacy on gaming platforms; first, create strong passwords, separate for each new account, and monitor leaks. A password manager will be of great help in this. Secondly, it is worth setting up two-factor authentication, preferably using a special application, in those services that allow it. Thirdly, you need to be careful when making in-game purchases, do not click on suspicious links in chats and forums, follow the release dates of games, and not download them on unofficial sites. It will not be superfluous to install a reliable security solution to protect against ransomware, Trojans, scam, and other threats that mimic popular games. “
