Windows 10 introduces full screen ads for the Edge browser

Microsoft continues to actively promote its new Chromium-based Edge browser. In the past, developers embed browser ads in the Settings app in Windows 10 and in the Bing search engine, and now it has become known to test the out-of-box experience (OOBE) feature for Edge ads.

According to reports, Microsoft is currently testing a new feature that displays a large ad box recommending the use of Edge during the initial post-installation phase of operating system settings.

The OOBE screen has a new Use Recommended Browser Settings page that lets you make Edge your default web browser with one click, and pin it to the desktop and taskbar. If you do not plan to use Edge, then you should click the “Do not update browser settings” button.

It is worth noting that with the release of Windows 10 October 2020 Update, developers have completely abandoned the old browser in favor of the new Edge on the Chromium engine. Despite the fact that the browser was officially launched just a few months ago, it has already become quite popular, thanks in part to Microsoft’s intrusive ads. According to the available data, Edge is currently the second most popular browser in the world, second only to the recognized market leader in the face of Google Chrome.
