Microsoft has recognized a new issue with the Windows Security application. It may prevent the latest Windows 10 May 2020 Update (version 2004) from being installed on a PC.
According to Microsoft, some users receive an error message due to incompatibility. Incompatibility was detected in certain display drivers with Windows 10 version 2004 with the “memory integrity” protection enabled in the function of protecting code integrity based on virtualization (HVCI, Hypervisor-protected code integrity).
Windows security system blocks the installation of a new version of Windows 10
To solve the problem, it is enough for the user to disable the “memory integrity” protection. If the user does not want to turn off this setting, then you will need to install fresh display drivers from the manufacturer to remove the lock when installing the update.
Microsoft previously published a long list of recognized issues in the Windows 10 May 2020 Update. They can lead to the fact that the system “does not see” the update and does not allow to install it. For the situations listed in that list, Microsoft advises against installing the OS update using alternative methods and wait for the resolution of the problem.
