Il-112V project suspended after prototype crash in 2021
For a long time since the disaster in August 2021 in the Moscow region, when an experimental Il-112V caught fire and crashed, work on this aircraft was stopped. And it was not completely clear whether this project would continue to exist. Now the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov has dispelled doubts.
Work on the domestic aircraft Il-112V will resume.
“ This project will be modified, technological changes will affect the design of the wing and engines ,” he said on the sidelines of the recently completed SPIEF-2023, answering a question about the Il-112V project. In other words, the IL-112V is not going to be abandoned.
Changes to the wing and engine are quite expected, since, according to preliminary data, the fire of the Il-112V engine led to unacceptable damage to the control system in the wing and loss of controllability. Because of this, the plane crashed.
Despite the fact that there were other claims to the aircraft (for example, a large mass and difficulties with fine-tuning the engine), it is difficult to abandon the IL-112 at the moment, since it must replace the retiring An-26, which in the current conditions cannot be repaired .
Recall that today in an interview with TASS, UAC head Yuri Slyusar told a lot of interesting things about Russian passenger aircraft: about import substitution of parts for the SaM146 engines of the domestic SSJ-100 aircraft, about the new generation of the Tu-214 airliner and about the first flight of the MS-21 with PD-14 and all Russian systems .
