Xbox head: Sony and Nintendo are not interested in Xbox Game Pass on their consoles

It looks like Microsoft will have to backtrack a bit from its long-standing goal of launching Xbox Game Pass on any device. The head of Xbox Phil Spencer (Phil Spencer) said that he could not provide the full operation of Xbox services on third-party consoles.

It was about the potential appearance of Xbox Game Pass on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5. While it was clear with Sony, some gamers were hoping to launch the service on Switch after Microsoft gave a couple of its exclusives ( Ori and the Blind Forest and Cuphead ) to the hybrid platform.

“We know when someone plays one of our Xbox games, they expect them to have an Xbox Live community, their achievements, Game Pass, which has a library [of Xbox Game Studios games],” Spencer added. “ And the other competing platforms aren’t really interested in having an Xbox on their console. But we want to be where gamers want to be, and that’s the path we’re going

Notably, Minecraft on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch allow players to use their Microsoft accounts for cross-platform multiplayer and add friends via Xbox Gamertags.
