Xiaomi patented a smartphone with a swing-out multi-module camera
The Chinese company Xiaomi has offered another version of a smartphone with an original multi-module camera. This unit can be used for regular shooting and taking high-quality self-portraits.
The device’s description is published on the websites of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The illustrations give an idea of the construction of the gadget.
A multi-module camera is located in the upper area of the rear part of the housing. It can contain three or four optical units with image sensors and a flash.
When the selfie mode is activated, a special motorized mechanism lifts the camera system above the body and rotates it 180 degrees. As a result, the user can use the main camera to take self-portraits.
In theory, the camera will occupy an intermediate position between the rear and front: this will allow shooting from non-standard angles.
The illustrations show that narrow bezels surround the display. Unfortunately, other technical characteristics of the unusual smartphone have not yet been disclosed.
