Xiaomi will become the third largest smartphone supplier in 2021, analysts say
Strategy Analytics has made a forecast for the global smartphone market for the current year: it is noted that there will be significant changes in the leading suppliers’ ranking.
Analysts believe that smart cellular devices this year will grow by 6.5% compared to 2020, reaching 1.38 billion units. Several reasons explain this at once.
First, an improvement in the economic environment has been observed in several regions. Secondly, the base of obsolete smartphones is growing. Finally, thirdly, the growth of demand is driven by the development of 5G networks.
Samsung will remain in first place in the ranking of leading manufacturers with a share of 20%. “Silver,” as in 2020, will go to Apple, the result of which, according to forecasts, will be 16%.
But the Chinese Xiaomi will break into third place with 13% of the global market. This will happen against the backdrop of a sharp weakening of Huawei’s position under the yoke of US sanctions.
Vivo and OPPO will also strengthen their position, which, according to Strategy Analytics, will be respectively 11% and 10% – this is the fourth and fifth places in the world ranking.
