Yakuza: Like a Dragon producer denies concept and title rumors for next title

Senior Producer of Yakuza: As a Dragon Masayoshi Yokoyama commented on recent rumors on his microblog about the next part of the famous Sega franchise.

It all started with the fact that a few days ago a screenshot of Yokoyama’s supposedly deleted tweet, in which the developer unequivocally hints at the concept of the upcoming Yakuza, was scattered across the Internet.

According to common imagery, the next chapter of the Sega crime saga should be titled Yakuza: Like an Asura and dedicated to the eighth wakagashira (“senior lieutenant”) of the Omi alliance named Masaru Watase.

Yokoyama hurried to disown the publication: “It’s even a little nice to be the object of an overseas counterfeit, but … Like an Asura? 100% false. I didn’t even post [this tweet]

In the comments under the record, the producer also mentioned that he sympathizes with Watase, but no one is going to make him a protagonist – even adding the favorite of Goro Majima fans to Yakuza 0 had to think hard.

Previously, Japanese publisher Sega and studio Ryu Ga Gotoku confirmed that they will talk about the “future developments” of the series through a live broadcast to mark the 15th anniversary of the original Yakuza.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon was released on November 10 on PC (Steam, Windows 10), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, while the PlayStation 5 version is expected to be released only on March 2, 2021.
