A bug with downloading games was found on PlayStation 5, which can only be solved by returning to factory settings

On November 12, sales of the PlayStation 5 started in individual countries of the world. At the same time, information about the problems faced by the console buyers began to appear on the Web. First, one of the journalists talked about a critical crash leading to a black screen, and now it became known about an annoying error with loading games. It does not allow you to download the project to the console and can only be solved by rolling back to the factory settings.

Three IGN employees faced the mentioned defect at once. The essence of the problem is as follows: when the user starts downloading the game to the console, one of two notifications appears – “in the download queue” or “download error”. Next, the user is asked to check the download menu, but the project put for download will not be displayed in it. That is, canceling the process and starting over will not work.

IGN believes that the error appears when the game is first downloaded to the PlayStation 5. Reporters encountered it when trying to download Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Godfall. However, other users said that the bug also manifests itself when installing other projects for PS5. Apparently, it concerns the versions created for the new generation Sony console. In the case of backward compatible games, the error did not appear.

The only way to fix the problem is to reset the STB to factory settings. Sony has not yet responded to the existing flaw. But if it is related to the operating system, then the bug is likely to be fixed in the next updates.

PS5 sales in Russia will begin on November 19. The price of the console is 37,999 rubles. for an edition without a floppy drive and 46,990 rubles. for the version with an optical drive. It will not be possible to buy a set-top box at launch in retail stores due to the coronavirus.
