Koreans will invest huge funds in the development of this direction

At the investment forum, which took place last Thursday, Hyundai presented an updated strategy for the development of its automotive business. According to it, the new benchmarks are electric vehicles, fuel cell power plants, and autonomous driving systems. The company will allocate $ 55 billion for the development and development of relevant technologies by 2025.

A completely different Hyundai. Korean company unveils HTWO brand of hydrogen vehicles

One of the most important events of the forum was the announcement of the HTWO brand – it is under this brand that Hyundai cars with a hydrogen power plant will enter the market. However, business is not limited to cars alone. “ Together with HTWO, Hyundai Motor Group is intensifying its efforts to develop next-generation hydrogen fuel cell systems that can be applied to various forms of mobility such as aircraft, automobiles, ships, and trains, ” Hyundai said in a press release. In general, HTWO (read as “HLB-tu” in the acronym encrypted hydrogen molecule formula – H 2 ) – is much more than just specific power plants for cars common: the maximum expansion of the hydrogen used in various fields, as well as the development of appropriate infrastructure.

The geography of sales of Hyundai hydrogen vehicles can hardly be called extensive: in addition to the home market, cars will be offered in the USA, China, and European countries. At the same time, it is possible that with the development of the corresponding infrastructure, HTWO vehicles will appear in other markets.

It must be said that Hyundai is no stranger to the development of fuel cell engines; the company’s specialists have been working on the corresponding technologies for over 20 years. For example, Hyundai already has a fuel cell bus, an Xcient tractor (by 2025 it is planned to assemble 1,600 of them, including those for work on European routes), and a modern Nexo SUV, comparable in size to the Hyundai Tucson.
