AMD flagship Ryzen 9 5950X overclocked to 5.9 GHz across all 16 cores

AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors based on Zen 3 continue to amaze with their overclocking potential. Yesterday it was reported about the outstanding results of the younger model of the series, the six-core Ryzen 5 5600X, which was overclocked to 6.12 GHz under liquid nitrogen, and today the flagship model Ryzen 9 5950X stood out. The sixteen-core chip was overclocked to almost 5.9 GHz with all cores enabled and 32 virtual threads active.

The Ryzen 5000 series processors will start selling in just two days, but some computer enthusiasts were lucky enough to receive the chips a few days before they hit stores. For example, a user with the pseudonym Darklord published the result of the extreme overclocking of the Ryzen 9 5950X to an impressive frequency of 5898.63 MHz, which was subsequently confirmed by the database of the CPU-Z program, across all physical and virtual cores.

To do this, he set the processor multiplier to 59x with a step of 99.98 MHz, and also set the applied voltage to 1.656 V. Unfortunately, there is no information about what kind of cooling was used for this torture of the processor. But given the voltage used and the final result, most likely, it was not without the use of liquid nitrogen.

Extreme overclocking of the Ryzen 9 5950X processor was carried out on a system with an ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Impact X570 motherboard, equipped with two DDR4-3600 memory modules with a total volume of 16 GB and a GeForce GT 710 graphics plug.
