AMD has promised details on “rays” and DLSS analog before Radeon RX 6000 goes to market

Alienware co-founder and AMD chief game architect Frank Azor tweeted that AMD will provide more details on hardware ray tracing and DLSS analog AI scaling technology before the Radeon RX 6000 hits market.

When asked when we will hear the details about ray tracing and scaling, Mr. Azor replied: “We will cover these moments from now until the date of the release of graphics cards. Pleaseplease be patient. Thank you for your support and interest. ” Recall: the launch of new AMD video cards is scheduled for the 18th, so we should hear new information in the next 2 weeks.

AMD’s rDNA 2 architecture is at the core of the next-generation PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S and X gaming consoles (though Microsoft says that only its consoles can offer all the benefits of RDNA 2), which will hit the market this month. Both systems have support for hardware-accelerated ray tracing, which is also a feature of the recently introduced Radeon RX 6000 desktop graphics cards.

However, during the announcement, AMD was in no hurry to share details about the implementation of long-awaited technologies: ray tracing and scaling through machine learning technologies, which are key features of the GeForce RTX series. NVIDIA RTX and DLSS require developer support – since the launch of Turing two years ago, the number of compatible games has grown significantly, but there are still too few of them.
