On sale, all this will appear in two months
A few days ago, we first heard that AMD is preparing low-cost Ryzen 3 3100 and Ryzen 3 3300X processors. Yesterday we got acquainted with rumors regarding their prices. Today, AMD introduced these processors, and all the rumors were true.
AMD introduced the cheapest Ryzen 3000 desktop processors and the B550 chipset – the cheapest chipset with support for PCIe 4.0
So, today AMD introduced the most affordable desktop processors with Zen 2 architecture: Ryzen 3 3100 and Ryzen 3 3300X. These are the first and so far the only representatives of the Ryzen 3 line in the current generation of AMD CPUs.
Both processors have four cores, 18 MB of cache, support SMT and have a TDP of 65 watts. The frequencies of the youngest are 3.6-3.9 GHz, the oldest is 3.8-4.3 GHz. The cost of the Ryzen 3 3100 and Ryzen 3 3300X is $ 100 and $ 120, respectively. For comparison, Intel can buy Core i3-9100F from Intel in the current line for $ 100, and Core i3-9100 for $ 120, that is, the same processor, but with an active GPU. Given the parameters of the Core i3-9100, it will obviously be slower than both new AMD products. True, here you need to remember that the Comet Lake-S processors will soon be released, and then the Core i3-10100 with Hyper-Threading support will be a competitor for the younger Ryzen 3000s, but, firstly, we do not know the prices, and secondly, Comet Lake use a new socket, so the comparison will be more difficult.
In addition to two new processors, AMD introduced today the long-awaited B550 chipset, on which the most affordable next-generation motherboards will be based. And most importantly, the B550 supports PCIe 4.0.
The new Ryzen processors will go on sale May 21, but motherboards based on the B550 chipset will be released only on June 16.
