At the heart of the Alveo MA35D are two identical ASICs specifically designed for maximum streaming density. According to AMD, the architecture of the novelty is specially designed for maximum efficiency. It’s also worth clarifying that Alveo is a Xilinx product line, but the latter is now owned by AMD. The new solution is aimed at next-generation interactive video streaming services.

Alveo MA35D is capable of processing 32 streams in Full HD at 60 fps, eight channels of 4K at 60 fps or four channels of 8K at 30 fps. To be more precise, we are talking about an increase in the density of channels by 32, 8 or 4 times, respectively. AV1 and H.26x codecs are supported.

AMD also says that the power consumption per channel is only 1W, and the performance of the additional AI coprocessor reaches 22 TOPS. This coprocessor is needed to evaluate the content frame by frame and dynamically adjust the encoder settings in order to improve the perceived visual quality at a minimum bitrate.

Alveo MA35D is in the testing phase and will go on sale in the third quarter. The price of the device is 1595 dollars.
