AMD Ryzen 9 5900 and Ryzen 7 5800 65-watt frequencies revealed

Two weeks ago, the first reports of new Ryzen 5000 series desktop processors emerged. It was revealed that AMD is developing two Ryzen processors without the X suffix. Such solutions generally offer lower operating frequencies.

According to @momomo_us, the upcoming Ryzen 9 5900 and Ryzen 7 5800 will use the same number of cores as the models of the same name as the X suffix. The 5900 is a 12-core processor with 70MB cache, while the 5800 is an 8-core processor with 36 MB of cache. However, these processors will have important differences. First, their power consumption will be limited to 65 W, 40 W less than in the X-series. Second, the Turbo frequencies of the discussed CPUs are 4.7 GHz and 4.6 GHz, respectively – 100 MHz lower ( bass frequencies are not reported).

The new processors are likely to be offered only to OEM partners, and will not go to retail for those who prefer to build their own PCs. There were also rumours about the Ryzen 5 5600, which, according to rumours, will cost $ 220, but there has been no additional confirmation of the existence of such solutions.

AMD is also expected to release its Cezanne family of AM4 processors soon, such as the Ryzen 7 5700G and Ryzen 5 5600G. APU Cezanne will allegedly be presented as early as next week during the virtual exhibition CES 2021. It is unclear when and whether AMD intends to offer these new processors to retail buyers because even the 4000G series has been limited only to OEM partners.
