On Wednesday, Counterpoint Research released the latest smartphone sales in China in the first quarter. Smartphone sales in China fell 22% year on year. Moreover, sales in February were especially weak, they fell by 35% compared with the same period a year earlier.

At the same time, in the first quarter of 2020, sales of Apple iPhone in China fell by only 1% year on year. The first five positions in the Chinese smartphone market were taken by Huawei, Vivo, Oppo, Apple, and Xiaomi. It is worth noting that the proportion of Huawei reached 39%.
iPhone 11 became the best-selling smartphone in the Chinese market in the first quarter. He ranks first in the list of China’s best-selling models for seven consecutive months. The share of Apple and Huawei increased compared to the same period last year. Sales in the first quarter of 2020 were better than expected. Huawei smartphone sales were up 6% year on year.
Other analytic companies, IDC and Canalys, also published their reports on the global smartphone market. They noted that while Samsung was still the market leader, Apple was one of the few companies to suffer the least during the pandemic.
