ASUS presented its variants of the GeForce RTX 3070

ASUS has presented its versions of the GeForce RTX 3070. At first glance, the new items are practically no different from the older models of the GeForce RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 series. The manufacturer presented TUF Gaming versions in two versions: with and without factory overclocking. Unfortunately, ASUS does not provide full technical characteristics of video cards – GPU frequencies for overclocked versions are unknown.

ASUS GeForce RTX 3070 TUF versions are equipped with a passive cooling system with three fans. Like the older models of the TUF Gaming series, the GeForce RTX 3070 options will occupy 2.5 expansion slots in the computer case.

The video cards received a slightly modified radiator for the cooling system, as well as a different arrangement of video outputs. At the same time, the set of connectors itself has not changed. The cards received two HDMI 2.1 and three DisplayPort 1.4a connectors.

Despite the lower declared level of power consumption compared to the GeForce RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 models, the ASUS GeForce RTX 3070 TUF versions are equipped with two 8-pin auxiliary power connectors.

Among the reviewers and buyers of the older GeForce RTX 30 series models performed by TUF Gaming, it is believed that they are among the best on the market. First, the manufacturer, at the stage of test production, replaced the “problematic” configuration of six SP-CAP (POSCAP) capacitors in the GPU power subsystem with MLCC capacitors that demonstrated more stable operation. Secondly, ASUS offers senior cards of the TUF Gaming series almost at the price recommended by NVIDIA.

It’s much easier to spot the differences between the older and younger TUF Gaming models if you look at their backs. ASUS GeForce RTX 3070 TUF models have a different configuration of SP-CAP / MLCC capacitors. In addition, in younger models, only a part of the central area of the PCB is visible, where the GPU power subsystem is located.

In addition to the TUF Gaming series, ASUS also introduced other versions of the GeForce RTX 3070.

For the South Korean market, the manufacturer has prepared the KO series. In addition, STRIX variants were announced, as well as DUAL EVO and DUAL MINI. The latter is designed for use as part of Mini-ITX systems.

NVIDIA postponed the start of sales of the GeForce RTX 3070 for two weeks. The cards are slated to hit store shelves on October 29, a day after AMD unveils its new Radeon RX 6000 series of graphics solutions.
