Choosing between the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X is the choice between speed and picture quality.

PS5, according to new data, will be offered in two versions – with SSDs of 1 and 2 TB

The creators of games for consoles are perhaps the only people who can compare the next-generation Microsoft and Sony consoles. One of the developers, Thomas Mahler, shared his thoughts on this. According to him, the choice between the PS5 and Xbox Series X comes down to the choice between speed and image quality on the screen.

Choosing between the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X is the choice between speed and picture quality.

PS5 uses a very fast SSD and, in addition, the entire storage subsystem has been transformed for the sake of performance and high download speed of both games and textures. The data transfer speed in the PS5 reaches 5.5 GB / s – almost two and a half times more than in the Microsoft console. As for the Xbox Series X itself, it will provide a higher frame rate at high resolutions (for example, 4K). This ensures a smoother and better picture on the screen of a monitor or TV.

According to Mahler, developers do not have to use the full speed of PS5. In other words, the user does not really care how much the game will load – in three seconds or five. And in light of this, the visual benefits of the Xbox Series X look more attractive.

Interestingly, the other day, Amazon has already lit up the page with the sale of PS5. On it, the console is presented in two versions – with SSDs of 1 and 2 TB. Probably, such will come in retail. True, the cost is not happy: the console is priced at $ 760 for the option of 2 TB.
