Chrome OS will soon be able to cast screens from Android devices and integrate them more closely

Chrome OS will soon be able to cast screens from Android devices and integrate them more closely

Screen mirroring allows you to cast screen content from one device to another. Windows users can use the Your Phone application for these purposes. It is reported that a similar feature will soon appear in Google Chrome OS.

In September, enthusiasts discovered a mention of the Phone Hub feature in Chrome OS, which was in development. This feature should allow for tighter integration between Android and Chrome OS devices, allowing users to receive notifications from their smartphone on their computer. However, its possibilities do not end there. Phone Hub will also allow users to sync Chrome tabs between two devices, find a missing phone, and more.

Most curious is the ability to cast screen content from Android devices to Chromebooks, discovered by 9to5Google. However, the feature may be exclusive to Pixel smartphones, at least for the first time. Confirmation of this is the service name eche-swa, which probably refers to system files specific to Pixel software. On the other hand, the new feature may be limited to Pixel smartphones only at the testing stage.

There is no information yet on when the screencast will become available to users. The Phone Hub feature is already known to a limited number of Chromebook owners, but not all features are yet available.
