Console sales in February peaked in 10 years. Most Popular – Nintendo Switch

Sony and Microsoft are now selling off all the next-gen consoles they make, and the shortage isn’t going to end yet. According to analyst firm NPD Group, these sales, coupled with consistently strong demand for the Nintendo Switch, boosted game console sales in February to their highest level in a decade.

Every month, console sales are reported to have grown 121% over February last year. The total proceeds from the sale of gaming equipment amounted to $ 406 million, second only to the figure in February 2011, when consoles were sold for $ 468 million.

In terms of the number of units sold and the amount of revenue from sales, the most successful device was the Nintendo Switch in February. Notably, February handheld sales were the highest for any gaming hardware platform since the Nintendo Wii in February 2009.

The switch continues to climb the top-selling consoles of history. The console’s sales have already surpassed those of the Nintendo DS and are approaching the legendary Wii. Nintendo currently has a huge advantage over Sony and Microsoft, which cannot ship enough next-generation consoles to meet demand. Nintendo’s console supply is much better, as the device has been on the market for a long time. However, even this is not enough to fully satisfy the formed demand.

Due to the high popularity of the PlayStation 5, Sony has won second place in the sales of game consoles in the United States. The console is currently the fastest-selling hardware gaming platform in the United States in history.
