Dark Mode testing begins on Facebook mobile app for Android and iOS

The plans of the developers to implement support for dark mode in the Facebook application for mobile devices have been known for a long time. For a while, this feature was available to a small number of users, and now many more people can take part in testing it.

IT specialist and application researcher Jane Manchun Wong was one of the first to report this. On her Twitter page, she wrote about the beginning of public testing of dark mode in the Facebook mobile app for Android and iOS devices. She supplemented her message with a small demo video about the new function.

It is currently unknown on what basis people are selected to test dark mode, but the source notes that their number has increased significantly. To activate the new function, you need to go to the “Settings and privacy” section, which is located in the main menu of the application. Users can force dark mode on or off, or choose a mode that will respect system-wide settings. The latter option assumes that the Facebook app settings will change depending on which mode is selected at the operating system level.

The dark mode is nothing new, as the feature is already present on the desktop version of Facebook. Obviously, the developers are in no rush to launch the feature in large quantities, since the mobile application of the social network Facebook, which is used by hundreds of millions of users daily, is an important product for the company.
