Details of Gotham Knights: general leveling of characters, co-op battles and more

GamesRadar spoke with WB Games Montreal Executive Producer Fleur Marty about the upcoming action RPG Gotham Knights. Will the game be less Batman: Arkham and more Assassin’s Creed since it’s an RPG? There is no exact answer to this. But the developer clarified other important aspects.

According to the developer, in Gotham Knights, most of the role-playing elements will be simplified as much as possible. Players will be able to switch between four characters freely – Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, and Red Hood – at virtually any time. But also all the heroes will be pumped at the same time.

“Since the development of the plot is shared among all the characters, it also makes sense that you don’t have to level them up separately each time you want to switch,” explained Marty. – It’s also reasonable from the point of view of our narrative. The other members of Batman’s family are always present in the background in some way. While you are fighting crime or solving a mystery, they are not idle. Therefore, it is logical that they also level up and become stronger

Besides, there will be no level restrictions in Gotham Knights. In an interview, Marty said that enemies would also adapt to the strength of your characters. This means that you can move freely around the city from the very beginning. Additionally, the executive producer has highlighted the co-op aspect of Gotham Knights:

“We’ve completely redesigned the combat system to work well in co-op. Of course, it’s still action-packed, and some of the mechanics won’t seem completely foreign to people who have played and enjoyed the Arkham series, but in many ways, it is very different

Gotham Knights are coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and PlayStation 5 this year.
