Last fall, Microsoft introduced its first AMD-based laptops. It was the 15-inch Surface Laptop 3 model, which was based on the semi-ordered Ryzen 3000U hybrid processors. Microsoft noted that together with AMD, it created special versions of the APU: Ryzen 7 3780U Microsoft Surface Edition Processor and Ryzen 5 3580U Microsoft Surface Edition. These are distinguished from ordinary Ryzen models by more productive GPUs.
Did Microsoft like AMD processors? The company will continue to use the Ryzen APU in its laptops
Judging by the data that appeared on the Web, Microsoft will continue to use AMD processors. In the 3DMark database, an unknown Microsoft mobile PC based on the Ryzen 7 4800U was spotlighted. It can be assumed that this is Surface Laptop 4.
Unfortunately, Microsoft will not succeed in turning the same focus as in the previous generation, since the Ryzen 7 4800U already has Vega GPUs in the maximum configuration possible for this generation. However, at the same time, the Ryzen 7 4800U is much more productive than the previous generation mobile APUs, so the increase will be very noticeable.
