From Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G), and Pixel 5, retouching is disabled by default in the camera app
Google has announced the next step to preserve the mental health of smartphone users. For this, some filters will be disabled in the proprietary Google Camera application.
Don’t be surprised by ugly selfies from Google’s new smartphones. The company began to turn off the retouching function
Google notes that 70% of photos on Android smartphones are taken with the front camera and 24 billion photos on Google Photos are tagged as selfies. At the same time, Google came to the conclusion that a number of filters that users use without knowing it since they are enabled by default, can adversely affect the mental health of humanity, as they form unnatural beauty standards.
To give users more control over this process, Google decided to do the following. Starting with Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G), and Pixel 5 smartphones, retouching is disabled by default in the camera app. You can enable retouching, but you have to do it consciously. Also, if the user wants to apply such effects to the photo, he will see information on the screen for each setting and the changes that it will cause.
