Enhanced Privacy Control: Google Alert for Personal Information Removal
Stay Informed: Google Introduces Dashboard to Alert Users About Personal Information Online
Are you curious to know if your personal information is surfacing on Google? Well, you’re in luck! Google is launching a new dashboard that will notify users when their personal information appears online or when there are new search results related to them. This feature will give users the opportunity to promptly remove any personal data they find concerning.
The upcoming dashboard is an enhancement of the “Results about you” tool that Google introduced last year. It aims to empower users to stay in control of their information and enables them to eliminate search results that display their personal email addresses, home addresses, phone numbers, and more directly from the search results page.
It’s important to note that removing a Google result will not erase it from the internet entirely. At the moment, this tool is only available to users in the United States and is offered in English.
How to Remove Personal Information from Google?
If you discover your personal information, such as your email address, home address, or phone number, listed in a search result, you can take action. Simply click on the three vertical dots located next to the result and select “Remove result.”
Google also allows users to request the removal of incorrect contact information or content that infringes copyright. To do this, you can fill out a detailed removal request form, and Google will review your submission.
Monitoring the status of your removal request is made easy. You can check it within the Google app, your web browser, or on the “Results about you” page, where you’ll find updates on whether the request is in progress, approved, denied, or undone.
Requesting the Removal of Sensitive Information
The new policy from Google permits users to ask for the removal of explicit images or sensitive personal information from the search results. This includes instances where personal content is published on a different website without consent. However, this policy does not apply to content that users are already commercializing.
Google has also implemented the SafeSearch setting to protect users, especially those under 18. This setting automatically blurs explicit imagery and graphic violent content when it appears in search results. The feature will be rolled out globally this month and can be disabled if desired, though access may be restricted by a guardian or school network administrator.
With Google’s enhanced dashboard and user-friendly options, individuals can take greater control of their personal information and ensure a safer online presence. Stay informed and take action to safeguard your privacy in the digital realm.
